Masa Hotel pops Champagne on the roof top

Masa Square Hotel held the first ever Moet & Chandon Champagne brunch at the hotel’s rooftop venue. A classical affair that ticked all the right boxes for those who have been dying for something like this locally, the event was a success.

Transforming the Rooftop, the organisers had transformed the venue into a classy and beautiful setting that romanticised the intimate crowd in attendance. The event was held in association with and sponsored by Moet & Chandon. Staying true to the theme of the day, guests wore their finest attires, and some truly illustrated that they respected themes for any event. The likes of Mothusi Lesolle of iZaura and his famous legs came out to play. Dressed in a Japanese inspired kimono and black short and vests, the designer was fabulously dressed as well as a few others who also impressed.

The sweltering Gaborone heat did very little to dampen the spirit of those who came out to chill and party with their peers. Fifi Africa and Dj Kels provided a wide variety of music. Champagne lovers were welcomed with a tantalizing glass of Mimosa. The welcome drink was just the beginning as highlights of the intimate session included Champagne that was free flowing, and a brunch to die for.

The food station proved to be a hit, and a number of the guests made several trips to the station to nit-pick everything that tickled their fancy. On the menu, Executive Chef Melisa Ngoni and her team had gone all out to prepare a brunch that tied in well with the theme of the day. There was an assortment of appetizers and salads, fresh seafoods, and a handpicked selection of international cheese, charcuterie, and breads, and sweet treats for those who wanted to sweeten the deal. According to the Sales and Marketing Manager for the Hotel, Botho Mogami, love is effervescent and as a Hotel they continue to celebrate it just in time for the end of the month romantic gestures.

“As a hotel, we have noticed an undeniable growing appetite for Champagne through out the world, and so we decided to bring that beverage wonderland to Botswana for our first ever Champagne breakfast in association with and sponsored by Moet & Chandon. Our rooftop venue is perfectly positioned to host this world class champagne brunch as it overlooks the bustling Gaborone central business district,” she explains.

She further says that nothing says Sunday like a good feast, and that they sought out to create a world class experience for guests to enjoy as they unwind with friends and family on the weekend. “We are excited to potentially host more of these one of a kind experiences for our clients as we always strive to cater to their needs and go beyond just being a place, they can lay their heads to rest,” says Mogami.

MC for the day at the iZaura fashion show brunch, Zenzele Hirschfeld, described her long-time friend, fashion designer, entrepreneur and socialite, Mothusi Lesolle as an epitome of botho.

Some of the guests described him as a man dedicated to his craft, while others said that he is an example of perseverance. Hirschfeld along with other guests had gathered together to celebrate him, his fashion house iZaura and his successes, in an event dubbed, Brunch with iZaura which took place at the Masa Hotel rooftop this past Saturday.

The setting was perfect for this occasion which was geared at creating platforms for dialogue and conversation around the development of the local fashion industry and the promotion of entrepreneurial approaches towards seizing opportunities in Botswana’s markets and beyond the border. Fashion enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and culinary lovers came dressed to kill in a variety of chic and fashionable clothing. Mingling with the guests while waiting for others to arrive, the bubbly and cheerful Lesolle had to contend with his name being called from every corner of the room as everyone wanted a piece of him. It was easy to tell that the guests adore Lesolle and wanted to share this glorious day with him.

Lesolle is finally living his dream but he is adamant that he wants to achieve more and will consider himself successful when he has pushed his brand beyond Botswana’s borders and has a presence in countries like Kenya and the United States of America. When he finally took the stage to speak about his journey in the fashion industry, Lesolle narrated how he had quit his job in the corporate sector to pursue his dream of being a sought after fashion designer. He started working for acclaimed fashion designer Mpho Kuaho of Jophes 09267 to learn more about the nitty gritties of the industry until he started his own line. “It has been only three years since I started and I have faced several challenges along the way but I persevered and did not give up on my dream. I have learnt a lot and I am ready to grow as a designer.

Initially I focused primarily on haute courte, but I now want to start designing ready to wear clothes, that are relatable,” he told the attentive crowd. He added that his designs are inspired by women from all walks of life and considering that majority of the guests were women, it was easy to understand why. Guests were also treated to a sneak preview of the line that he is currently working on. Mothusi said that he is in the process of identifying and sealing a signature look that will be instantly associated with his designs. The garments were a hit with the guests and amidst the oohs and aahs of admiration, many of them bought their favourite pieces on the spot.
