The national Under 21 Netball National Team Dinaletsana have failed to skid through to the last eight of the ongoing Netball Youth World Cup in Gaborone, Botswana.
Dinaletsana went down on goal ratio after a lot of cheers in a clouded confusion of reports that the team has qualified for the last 8. Dinaletsana’s fate depended on the game played on Wednesday between African giants Uganda and Jamaica which was won 44 - 39 by Jamaica. The win inevitably meant that all the three teams are level on six points.
With three teams level on six points each, and head to head failing to produce the two teams that go through, organisers had to resort to the calculators in order to break the tie and determine who goes through to the last eight.
Uganda topped the pool with a better point ratio of 1, 5. Jamaica came second with a point ratio of 1, 3533 and Botswana was last with a point ratio of 1, 3333.
Dinaletsana however go down like soldiers having won the hearts of Batswana and playing their legs out in the ongoing tournament. They now qualify to be called the utmost and daring Netball team that has stood the ground and brought astounding connection to the people through sports in recent times. However, all is not lost as Dinaletsana will play in the losers’ bracket where teams are fighting to finish in a respectable position and improve their respective rankings.
