Formidable combination... David and Maribe Formidable combination... David and Maribe

Dinaletsana Goal Shooter (GS) Cheledo David and Goal Attacker (GA) Boitshoko Maribe make a deadly combination.

Team Botswana began the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup (NWYC) on a high note, thrashing both Malaysia and Cook Islands in their first two games before losing to Uganda on Monday.

There is no doubt that team Botswana exceeded expectations with their thrilling performances so far. It takes team work to get desired results. But even though the entire team was up on its toes, Maribe and David did not disappoint with their marvellous finishing touches.

The slippery and speedy Maribe left Malaysia chasing shadows during their opening game on Saturday; her opponents had a difficult time taming her.

As one of the eldest players in the team, Maribe took it upon herself to lead by example, she easily manoeuvred comfortably in the playing field and David seemed to understand her language very well.

The girls proved that they mean business when they left the crowd yearning for more on Sunday afternoon when they played against Cook Islands. Coming into the game, Botswana was perceived as the underdogs but the team seemed to be less threatened.

A win against Cook Islands motivated team Botswana and with that; they took the mighty Uganda head on. Botswana gave Uganda stiff competition and almost had it in the bag but was heavily punished for its minor mistakes. David was chosen as the best player in their games against Malaysia and Cook Islands.

In a brief interview with Maribe after they lost to Uganda, the stellar player noted that they came into the game with only one thing in mind, a win. She however said the game was harder than they thought, hence they failed to crack them and Uganda stole the game right under their nose.
