In a bid to bolster its grass root support, the newly formed Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) will hold a massive rally in Mochudi tomorrow (Saturday) around the mall area.
Kabo Morwaeng, a BMD official, told Botswana Guardian that this is the first rally that the party will hold in the Kgatleng District since Gilbert Mangole, the legislator for Kgatleng West constituency, joined the party following his expulsion from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party.
It is the also the first rally to be held by the party when it has parliamentary representation. The rally will start in the morning when Franco’s stable and other artists entertain the people attending the rally. Morwaeng said the party specifically chose Mochudi because they could reach all the areas at the same time and it was decided that Mochudi is the appropriate avenue to announce the party to the people.
“At least this time we are doing it in an area where the party has representation,” said Morwaeng. The party’s legislators and leadership will address the rally.
