BDF/US ties
A Botswana Defence Force (BDF) brigadier has hailed the relationship between the armies of Botswana and United States of America. Brigadier Letsogile Motsumi said this last week during the handing over ceremony of laboratory equipment in Francistown. He added that the relationship should be understood within the overall strategic goal of ensuring a stable security environment by assisting Botswana to maintain a healthy defence force.


Sport is beneficial
Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Shaw Kgathi, has urged the nation to take a keen interest in sport. Speaking at the annual general meeting of Botswana National Sport Council last week in Francistown, Kgathi encouraged Batswana to engage in sport and active leisure activities. He said that sport is a tool that ca be use to mould people into responsible citizens.


IEC workshops
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Francistown held a consultative workshop with members of different political parties in Francistown on Tuesday. According to IEC principal spokesperson Osupile Maroba, the IEC and other stakeholders hold workshops periodically to come up with recommendations that can be used to enhance the electoral act.


MVA meets
The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) met its stakeholders on Monday in Francistown. The chief executive officer of MVA Cross Kgosidiile said that the meetings afford his organization the opportunity to interact with partners in order to improve their working relationship and come up with better ways of addressing road accident victims.


ISPAAD a success
Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Maxwell Motowane, has praised the Integrated Support Programme for Arable Agriculture Development (ISPAAD) for helping farmers in the country. Motowane said this when officially opening an agricultural show in Mahalapye on Saturday. He urged Batswana to utilise this programme so they can stop relying on neighbouring countries for food.
