Duma Boko ascended to the Botswana National Front (BNF) presidency this week.  Thousands of BNF supporters sang, cheered and embraced each other.

His victory speech gave BNF supporters a lot of hope for a party that has been trapped in political limbo. BNF has been riddled with internal bickering, which outgoing president Otsweletse Moupo failed to contain. Boko is charismatic, well- groomed and youthful. On paper, his plans for the party are colourful, eloquent and visionary. Could he be BNF’s messiah or will we witness yet another splinter party from the BNF? Only time will tell.
