Tourism operator, World Link Travel and Tours which operated from the Southern African Development Committee (SADC) has been instructed to close with an immediate effect.
The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conversation and Tourism (MENT), has today told The Midweek Sun online publication that the tourism operator is no longer operating. “This is due to the fact that investigations by the Department of Tourism indicated that the company is not licensed to operate as a tourism operator (travel agency) in Botswana, thus it has been operating illegally. The illegibility of the operations of this company at SADC has also been communicated to SADC,” reads the statement.
Stakeholders and the entire public have been therefore cautioned to be aware of this. The ministry further advised all other tourism operators who might be operating illegally to cease operation with immediate effect. They were reminded that illegal acts are punishable by law and therefore they should follow the necessary process to legalise their operations.
